PS: I hurriedly left on a last minute business trip to China on March 3rd and only today, just returned/recovered from this excursion! Luckily the site updates automatically regardless, but this meant I hadn’t the chance to announce updates on social media + prepare the transcript for the previous pages. I am going to pause updates till next Saturday for everyone, including me especially, to catch up!

Zeynel grins. “Good. I have never done this ever my whole life.” He laughs and looks at his trembling hands. "Haha, I-I'm still shaking.”

He helps Ayşe pack away the other carpet, and slowly figures out how to roll it up properly, careful not to disturb the woollen flowers. He doesn’t want to offend the craft that he is gaining respect for.

Ayşe lifts up her carpet in her arms. “Are you okay? You really know your way around a conversation! I couldn't have sold her what she really wanted otherwise.”

Zeynel clicks his tongue and shakes his head humbly. “Aw, no problem. I had fun.” And he lowers his voice, intending the following words to be for himself: probably the most fun I had in ages.

Unfortunately it isn’t low enough to escape notice.

Ayşe has caught a little of what he whispered to himself, and immediately notices a change in his vibe. She wants to say something, to bring it out into the open. Just as she was about to do so…

Instantly, Zeynel puts on a bubbly face and turns around to speak to her. “Oh yeah, I was going to–”

Ayşe shouts, “No, no, NO! I'm not falling for that trick again!”

He freezes.

When a power like that suddenly blazes, it is best for the witness of that power to not offend it. Silence is always the best non-offender. Luckily for Zeynel, he’s very good at keeping quiet.

She says, “Zeynel, please be honest. Why is it that you're generally so good at speaking – being a hafiz, and an excellent host, and a mediator – but whenever I want to get to know you more, you bail? What are you hiding exactly?”

Zeynel trembles in guilt and embarrassment. Slowly, he picks up his carpet, so he could buy himself time to think as he sets it down onto the corner with the other carpets of the catalogue. How honest does he want to be?

He sighs, facing the wall. “N-no, you see… It's not hard to make conversation. All I do is ask questions, and get people to talk about themselves. After that, I only have to listen. Listening is easy… But when the topic shifts and it starts being my turn to talk? About myself? I'm not ready for that. This… this persona I made up to entertain them isn't enough. The truth is, I'm a wreck.”
