Ghuls are a type of djinn, an extra-dimensional being that preys on lost travellers and eats them. This is different from the popular modern conception of the ghoul.

Djinn are a hidden race of beings made of fire in Islamic theology. The other two beings are angels and humans (made of earth). Djinn have their own society and laws and are allowed the choice to be Muslim…or not. Just like humanity. Either way they are under the eyes of God.

Mora used these terms to help Zeynel understand the horror he’s encountering (how nice of Mora! 🙄), but where Mora comes from, he sees himself as a Lemures: a vengeful spirit whose kin neglected and abandoned them in death.

Neither one adequately translate to “vampire”, but vampires can potentially be described under both of these cultural analogues… at least, for the purposes of this story!

Zeynel using all of his mother’s teachings to check his pulse. It’s no use…..
